ICE 2023 Live Casino Report

February is the month when the whole of the casino industry descends on London for the annual International Casino Exhibition (ICE).

It’s a monstrous affair filling out the halls of the Excel conference centre, with over 100,000 people visiting over the three days.

Tucked away among the stands and displays are the Live Casino Providers.

My task for the three days was to visit with as many as possible and determine their plans for 2023.

I didn’t manage to visit them all, but here’s a good run down from the ones I did speak to.

ice 2023 live casino report

Ezugi

Ezugi have two new titles to add to its impressive catalogue of live games. Video Blackjack is the first game of live Blackjack to allow players to interact with each other using video and audio from their phones. It takes online social gaming to the next level, and it will be interesting to see what the market makes of this.

Ultimate Roulette is Ezugi’s newest multiplier game show. It has a circus theme and gives Multipliers on straight-up numbers, similar to Evolution’s Lightning Roulette.

On Air Entertainment

on air

I met On Air Entertainment on a big boat in the harbour outside the conference centre. It’s called the Sunborn; it’s a luxury floating hotel you can book and stay in.

The latest news is a new multiplier game called Nexus Roulette, which uses four Roulette wheels. All inside bets benefit from the multipliers generated when two or more results from four roulette wheels are identical.

More games are in development. We can expect to see more Baccarat variants and an entertainment gameshow.

The US market is part of their strategy, with the construction of a new studio almost nearing completion.

Beter Live

beter live

Beter Live are a Ukrainian Live Casino provider producing some distinctive-looking games.

Gravity Roulette is the latest game to be released, a multiplier game of Roulette, where all inside bets qualify for the multipliers. It will undoubtedly have a similar styling to Gravity Blackjack, which uses multipliers on the side bets.

A new studio is being built in Romania to host an increasing games catalogue.

Pragmatic Play

pragmatic snakes and ladders

Pragmatic Play had one of the more extensive stands at the exhibition, with the live casino section occupying lots of floor space.

The headline games being shown were Snakes and Ladders and Vegas Ball Bonanza. The former is an entertainment game show, the latter a Bingo-type game.

Both games are in different stages of development, and there is work to do on both before the general public gets to play them.

Snakes and Ladders use Dice, and the standard Power Up function will boost wins across the boards.

The Vegas Ball Bonanza looked quite complicated, but as I said, the game is being refined, so hopefully, it will play better than it seems.

More games are planned for the rest of the year. Somewhat surprisingly, they were keeping these close to their chests.

Evolution

evolution

Evolution was showcasing two games. Funky Time is a new entertainment gameshow – effectively a reskin of Crazy Time, with a 70’s disco theme and different bonus rounds.

Extra Chilli Epic Spins is a live slot game using the popular BTG Extra Chill slot. A host presents the fun and bashes a Pinata to reveal prizes and entry to the bonus rounds.

The biggest news, however, is reserved for the Digiwheel, Crazy Time and Lightning Roulette which you can read more about below.

Playtech

playtech

Playtech live casino was not first and foremost on the stand. I had to dig a bit to find out what was going on.

The big news revealed at the show was Playtech QuickSpins slots brand was being added to the live casino lobby. I guess it’s in preparation for the Slot / Live collaborations, where we’ll see some new entertainment games developed. The first is based on the Big Bad Wolf!

Flying below the radar a bit is Mega Fire Blaze Blackjack, which has just launched.

On the live casino side, a new multiplier game of roulette is about to launch. It uses two wheels and Virtual Sports to deliver multipliers. It’s a different game, and I’m looking forward to reviewing it.

A new gameshow based on the Jumanji game was not being shown at the stand but is being developed. Now, this sounds interesting!

Authentic Gaming

authentic gaming

Authentic Gaming is now part of Light and Wonder but still operating under its brand name.

The XL multiplier functionality will be rolled out to more games, and there will be a new Roulette Gameshow.

Authentic now has access to the Light & Wonder catalogue of slots games, so expect to see some collaborations using Rainbow Riches and 88 Fortune slots.

The US is a market that Authentic are looking to crack. A new Michigan studio has been built, which will house eleven games, including seven-seat blackjack.

They are also looking at functionality to allow players to choose the side bets they want to play from a list of thirty.

Winfinity

winfinity

Winifinty is another new live casino provider. They are based in Riga, Latvia and have a few live casino games at casinos in Europe.

They build high-quality games and have developed technologies that don’t use card scanners or lasers in roulette wheels for results reading.

I was told by Ray, who you may recognise as the face of Dreamcatcher when that launched, that Winifity built everything itself in a workshop next to the studio. That way, they can maintain quality and make precisely what they want.

An MGA license is on its way, so we’ll see these live games at more casinos in the coming months.

LuckyStreak

luckystreak

LuckyStreak is another Riga-based live casino provider. They have been around for a few years and have three games, Blackjack, Roulette and Baccarat.

Their focus for this year is improving streaming quality, their lobby and the playing interface, some of which are already available.

Also, a significant development area is improving operator tools.

The dealers make LuckyStreak stand out, so it’s well worth a visit if you want to experience something different.

Imagine Live (Was Digitain Live)

imagine live blackjack robot

Imagine Live is the rebrand of Digitain Live, an live casino provider based in Armenia.

They brought to the show three innovations.

A robotic camera arm was displayed, showing how live blackjack can be presented with only one camera. This certainly drew the crowds.

Secondly, an entertainment game, Pirates Plunder, was revealed, using a giant wheel and RNG bonus rounds.

Dynamite Roulette was the third, which is a multiplier roulette game.

I like what these guys are doing and had a chance to visit their studios in December.

Galaxy Gaming

Galaxy Gaming is not a live casino provider. They are, however, owners of most of the side bets you play on live and land-based tables.

It was interesting to chat with these guys. I hope to provide more information about what they do in the coming months. Watch this space!

BetGames

Bet Games are known for the different take they have on live dealer games. They offer sports-type bet slips on most games, meaning there are multiple ways to bet on a game.

Their stand wasn’t pushing live games this year. The focus was more on controlled sports sessions where you could place bets on the outcome. While it’s live it’s not live casino, so I’ll say no more.

Creedroomz

creedroomz

Creedroomz is the live casino studio of BetConstruct, also based in Armenia.

Although they have a UK license, not many live casinos have their games, which are plenty and of good quality. I particularly like Blackjack Switch!

Hopefully, I’ll be doing more in-depth reviews of Creedroomz during the year.

Ezee (Formely Amazing Gaming)

ezee

Ezee.com are the rebranded Amazing Gaming that launched about four years ago. They have a powerful presence in Asia and are now focusing on Europe.

The games look familiar, with some apparent copies of other live casino providers’ games.

In centre stage was a live blackjack table with a dealer called Jack Up Blackjack. It looked like it had multipliers, but I didn’t see how it worked.

Digiwheel

Digiwheel is owned by Evolution and is a big wheel with 208 LED panels, allowing virtually anything to be displayed on the wheel.

The standard wheel contains 54 segments, while a unique wheel containing more segments has been created for Evolution’s new game show Funky Time.

The big news coming from this stand is the installation of a Digiwheel in the Hippodrome Casino in London.

Twenty-Four playing terminals will enable players to play Crazy Time and Dream Catcher in Lola’s casino. Also included is Evolution Lightning Roulette, which is another first for Evolution. This news knocks me out!

Vivo Gaming

vivo gaming

Vivo Gaming continues to strengthen its live casino product.

Changes to the lobby make it easier for players to find the games they want.

New games include Scalable Blackjack and Andar Bahar, while a Multiplier Roulette and a Gameshow are planned for later this year.

A new studio in Colombia is being opened to support growth in that region.

Religa

religa

Religa was previously known as Portomaso Gaming.

The most exciting thing on their stand was the Triple Way Roulette, a new multiplier game of roulette that doesn’t use an RNG.

The wheel has been modified so there are three pockets for each of the 36 numbers. The middle pocket pays 85:1, while the two outer pockets pay 10:1.

A simple idea that will appeal to the true gambler and live casino player.

The game is under an exclusive deal for the moment; however, that is likely to change in the coming months.

Stakelogic

Stakelogic has experienced very quick growth during the last two years. So much so that Richard Walker said they would be taking stock over the next few months before rolling out new games.

Runner8Runner Roulette currently only available in the Netherlands will be released to all markets and a new Baccarat is on its way.

They don’t have any plans for the US markets although Ontario in Canada is a focus.

7Mojos

Last, but not least is 7Mojos.

One thing I discovered is they also use a robotic camera arm. In fact they have been using it for a few years on Baccarat and and Dragon Tiger.

AT the last show they premiered Galaxy Blackjack, where the dealers are dressed as spacemn and the studio looks like the control room of a space ship.

Well, Galaxy Roulette is about to join the crew.

My video review walkaround gives a little more information and imagery you’ve not seen in this article.

It’s worth a watch.

Summary

This is probably the biggest ICE Conference I’ve been to over the past few years.

Seeing so many live casino providers exhibiting their games was great.

I was excited to see the innovations and hear about the games we’ve got to look forward to.

As for innovation this year, it’s not on par with previous years.

A few live casino providers are playing catch up, adding entertainment and multiplier games to their catalogues.

Evolution was a bit disappointing, as their new game use existing game mechanics and is not as trailblazing as they usually are.

Some new providers, like Imagine Live, Winfinity and Beter Live, promise some good things. At the same time, On-Air entertainment has an aggressive roadmap for the US and Europe. I’m hoping for some good stuff from these guys.

As for RNG – it’s playing an increasing role in Live Games, something I don’t like, so the Triple Spin Wheel from Religa was refreshing to see, as well as Nexus Roulette from On-air – both purely live games with multipliers.

A good conference, with a lot to look forward to in 2023.

About Neil’s Casino Comparer Reviews

I have tried to be objective and consistent with all my live casino reviews. Hopefully, they will strike a chord with you, but I thought it might be helpful to explain the criteria I use to mark each of the casinos. Hopefully, the categories and explanations make sense.

Playability – What is the overall impression of the casino? Did I have a good time? are the dealers nice and chatty and is everything easy to understand? Does it have a good set of games and is there a comprehensive set of betting options? Are high stakes players taken care of?

Software – What is the software like to use and does it integrate well with the rest of the casino?. Are the images clear and is the video streaming fast? Have they taken more than the default shared tables? Is it available on mobile?

Payment Options – Does the casino have a good variety of payment options? Do they payout quickly and on time?

Security – How good is the reputation of the casino amongst other players? Do they hold a valid gaming license? Are they transparent about the security measures they have in place? Are they regularly audited? Do they publish this information?

Support – Do they have multiple methods for communication with me? Is support available 24×7? Do they have instant chat and are they quick to respond? Are they able to help me immediately? Do they have an online FAQ and self-help library? Are the support people knowledgeable about the product I’m playing?

Bonuses – Do they have bonuses?. How strict are the wagering requirements? Do they offer repeat bonuses?. Do they offer loyalty points and can they be redeemed for cash or playing credits?

After all that, would I play there regularly?
