Lighting Ball is a revamp of Lightning Lotto, first released by Evolution in September 2023. This new version of the bouncing ball game has improved the chances of a win and boosted the possible multipliers, leading to a game that delivers wins more regularly and consistently.
Lightning Ball is a drawn ball lottery-based game with the famous Evolution lightning multipliers.
The concept is relatively straightforward. You buy a ticket containing six numbers. Five numbers between 1 and 30 are randomly drawn from the first ball machine before a Lightning multiplier between 2x and 50x gets chosen. The sixth ball, the PowerBall, is drawn from the second machine containing 1 to 10 numbers. You win if your ticket matches two or more numbers. If one of the numbers is the Powerball, the lightning multiplier is applied to your payout!
A minimum of two numbers is needed for a ticket to win!
You can play up to 200 tickets in this fast and fun game.
In this review, I’ll explain how to play Lightning Ball Live, give you my thoughts on what I think and how it compares with Mega Ball. I’ll also briefly look at playing strategies and where you can play this game online.

Lightning Ball Live is a blend of a live lottery game and Evolutions’ now famous “lightning” capability, where standard payouts get boosted by a randomly generated multiplier.
Lightning Ball is not the first live dealer lottery-style game. Other producers like Betgames and Vivo Gaming have had them for years. But this is the first time we’ve seen a restricted number combination with a multiplier.
Evolution Mega Ball comes closest if you’re looking for a similar game. While Mega Ball is a bingo-based game, the way the game operates is very similar, so if you’ve enjoyed one, you’ll enjoy the other.
Unlike a lottery, where you’re responsible for picking the numbers, an RNG engine in Lighting Ball does it for you.
Every ticket contains a random set of numbers, with the first five picked from a pool of thirty and the sixth number selected from a range between 1 and 10.
This sixth number is known as the Powerball Number.
The playing interface is set up to make purchasing and selecting tickets easy.
It’s possible to play up to 200 tickets at the same time.
You can purchase tickets in blocks of 1 ticket, 10 Tickets, 50 Tickets, and 100 Tickets. You select the value you want to play each ticket for, and the playing interface does the rest. The Total Bet is displayed below each of the purchase options.
Once betting time is over, the draw of the balls begins. The draw takes place in three stages:
As the balls emerge from the machine, the playing interface re-sorts all the tickets, listing the ones closest to winning at the top.
On completion of the draw, the tickets containing winning numbers are sorted and displayed in value order in front of you. You receive the payouts for the number of balls you have on each ticket.
The Lightning multiplier is created just before the second machine picks the PowerBall. Unlike in other games, where multiple multipliers are used, only one multiplier is created.
The multiplier has a value of between 2x and 50x.
It is applied to winning cards only when they have two or more numbers, one of which is the Powerball number.
The payouts are pretty straightforward.
A ticket with two numbers wins 1:1; three wins 4:1; four wins 14:1; five numbers 99:1:1; and six numbers 999:1.
The lighting multiplier can further boost the payouts, making the highest payout possible a whopping 49,999:1!
The published RTP for Lightning Ball is 97.03%.
Before starting with Lightning Ball strategies, let’s look at the Odds and Probabilities of getting a winning ticket. From there, we can decide the best method for playing.
The Probability of having winning numbers on a lottery ticket, where the first five numbers are chosen and drawn from thirty balls and the sixth number is selected and drawn from ten numbers, are:
There is a 50% chance that the 6th number will be a winning number on a winning ticket.
Buying more tickets enhances your chances of winning on any of the above scenarios (2, 3, 4, 5, or 6 winning numbers) because you cover more possible number combinations.
However, the probabilities for each scenario per ticket remain the same; buying more tickets increases your overall coverage of those probabilities.
Firstly, I don’t buy more than ten tickets. Having more tickets doesn’t increase your chances of making a profit. If anything, it almost guarantees you’ll lose over the long term.
My advice and what I do is to play no more than ten tickets, and I’ll tell you why.
You wouldn’t buy 200 tickets if you were playing the National Lottery, so why start now?
Autoplay is a great way to repeat the same bet for a set number of game rounds.
Since you’re not physically picking numbers on the tickets, using Autoplay to repeat the same bets is no problem.
I set it up for 20 games at a time, playing ten tickets at between 0.20 – 0.50 a ticket.
I can easily track what I bet, win and lose.
Lightning Ball and Mega Ball are very different games but have similar features. If you want an edgier game with more going on, Mega Ball is an excellent alternative to Lightning Ball.
Mega Ball uses Bingo cards, so you get payouts for completed lines on cards. Each card contains 24 numbers, and you can play up to 400 cards. The multipliers get assigned at the end of the game before the last ball gets drawn. You get the multiplier payout if the ball completes a line on a card.
There’s more going on in Mega Ball and more balls in the bingo machine, fifty-one, as opposed to thirty and ten in Lightning Lotto.
The RTP is lower on Mega Ball at 95.05%, so the potential return is not as good, but the payouts are bigger, with a maximum possible win of 999,999:1!
Lightning Ball is a more straightforward game and probably a good way to start if you want to try bouncing ball machine entertainment games.
Lightning Ball evolved from an earlier version of the game, Lightning Lotto. In case you’re wondering, here are the differences between the two games.
Lightning Ball is more playable than the previous version, albeit with a lower maximum payout. You get more wins as only two numbers are needed, and while the multiplier mechanic is different, you have a one-in-ten chance of getting it!
Lightning Ball compliments the other bouncing ball live bingo games Evolution has previously released. Unlike the bingo game, where cards have multiple lines, Lighting Ball has just a single line of six randomly generated numbers. The Powerball gives a one in ten chance of matching the sixth number on a ticket.
The lightning multiplier boosts the winning ticket payout if the 6th number is part of the winning numbers.
Base wins are very low. A two-number win pays 1:1, which is way below the true odds of about 6.2:1.
Playing up to 200 tickets is great for Evolution but not for the player. You can’t possibly follow what’s going on.
Part of the fun of playing the lottery is being able to pick your numbers. While it’s impossible to pick numbers for loads of cards (up to 200) yourself, just having the RNG engine do it for you for all cards somewhat defeats the point of the game, in my opinion.
It would be nice if there were an option to allow you to pick your numbers for a few cards. I understand how this may slow the game down, but surely it’s about player enjoyment rather than how many game rounds you can fit into an hour!
I think Lighting Ball is OK, but I can’t see it being a game you’d play for ages. It just doesn’t hold your attention and provide any variety.
Lightning Ball is a lottery-based live dealer game from Evolution with its famous multipliers, which boost payouts.
The maximum multiplier is 50x. This provides a maximum payout of 49,999:1 for six numbers.
The two games are different. One is a single-line game, and the other is a bingo game with multiple lines on a Bingo card. The payouts are better on Mega Ball, while Lightning Ball is a more straightforward game with which most people will be familiar.
The RTP is 97.03%.
There is no strategy. You don’t get to pick the ticket numbers and do not influence the balls as they are drawn from the machine. The only system is how many cards you should play, which I recommend to be no more than ten.
Lightning Lotto can be played at all Evolution Casinos. My current recommendation is PlayOjo.
