Bitcoin Live Casinos with UKGC Licence for UK Players

bitcoin live casinos

Bitcoin live casinos are a combination of two niches – live casinos and bitcoin. Finding the correct combination, where you get the best of both is a challenge, especially if you want to play live dealer games with cryptocurrency in the UK.

In this article, I will guide you through the process of choosing the right bitcoin casino and making a deposit and withdrawal.

If you’re gambling in bitcoin, maybe you have an inclination towards gambling anonymously, in which case you may choose to play at one of the many unregulated casinos.

However, I still recommend gambling only with UKGC-licenced casinos. Mainly because of the protection you get as a player and for your funds.

Bitcoin isn’t an untraceable privacy coin that guarantees anonymity anyway, so there’s not a single reason to go for an un-licenced casino.

Fortunately, there are bitcoin casinos with a UKGC licence where you can play safely and do so with Bitcoin.

Read the rest of this article to find out what are those casinos and what games do they offer.

Why use Bitcoin when Gambling?

That’s a very good question, and the answer depends on where you’re located.

Many countries don’t have a regulated gambling scene, in many, gambling is even illegal, so players use bitcoin to circumvent the bans that are usually enforced through the banking system.

The USA and Australia are good examples.

The main reason people use Bitcoin is for the anonymity it provides when you’re making a sale or purchase online. Payment transactions are anonymous, however, the rest of the transaction may not be, so don’t automatically believe you can’t be traced if you use Bitcoin.

Remember, you’ve probably given your personal information to the company that you’ve set up your online Wallet and used a Credit/Debit card or Bank transfer to purchase the Bitcoin in the first place. You’ve even given a delivery address for the goods you’ve purchased. See what I mean, not as anonymous as you think!

So you’ll need to do a lot more than just using Bitcoin to remain anonymous.

For players in the UK, there’s nothing stopping us from legally gambling in pounds sterling. Or in bitcoin, for that matter.

If you already have some bitcoin, you might choose to gamble with it. Alternatively, if you’ve never owned Bitcoin, this might be just the opportunity you’ve been looking for to start owning a small amount. You can have some fun by gambling with it and then go through the process of converting it back to a recognised currency.

Often the hardest step is to find a reason to own some Bitcoin. If you’re a regular gambler this may be the opportunity you’ve been looking for.

Bitcoin Live Casino Games

Let’s take a look at the games that are available for playing when you deposit with bitcoin.

Since you’ll be playing at UKGC-licenced online casinos, you can play the same games you can when depositing with cash.

This is the selection of live games:

Bitcoin Live Roulette

The most popular game when playing with Bitcoin is Live Roulette. Roulette comes in two different playing formats. European Roulette and American Roulette.

  • European Roulette is the most widely played. It offers players an RTP of 97.3% and is played with just one Zero.
  • American Roulette is played with two zeros on the wheel. Zero and Double Zero. This takes the RTP down to 94.74%

Obviously out of the two, the European version is the one to play.

Bets can be placed on the table or by using the Race Track, which enables you to place bets on a single number and their neighbours.

It’s also a useful way of placing the common French bets, which cover the different sectors of the wheel.

At Dafabet, powered by Playtech, American, European and French Roulette can be played on lots of tables. Quantum Roulette has 500x win multipliers, similar to Evolution’s Lightning Roulette. Spread Roulette offers side bets. Native language roulette tables for English, German and Italian are also available. Crucially, Dafabet offers dedicated live roulette tables while the other two casinos do not.

Energy Casino, running on Evolution software, has European Roulette and French Roulette with La Partage rule. Of the most popular games, Immersive Roulette, Lightning Roulette and Speed Roulette can be played here. There are native language tables for Greek, Turkish, Russian, Spanish, German and Flemish.

NoBonusCasino runs on Evolution and Pragmatic Play software and offers only European Roulette. Most players will play the two most popular variations, Lightning Roulette and Immersive Roulette. La Partage rule is available on the French Roulette Gold table. German and Swedish native language tables are available. Unlike the other two casinos, NoBonusCasino doesn’t offer Speed Roulette.

I’d say all three casinos offer plenty of exciting roulette tables and cover all the bases.

Playojo is my personal favourite because it has dedicated tables, which in my opinion is a big sign of quality.

Bitcoin Live Blackjack

Dafabet offers a range of Playtech Blackjack tables. There are 7 seat tables as well as multiplayer tables such as All Bets Blackjack and Unlimited Blackjack where all players play the same hand. Quantum Blackjack has a unique set of rules, with multipliers applied to winning hands. Games use Vegas or European set of rules, and there’s a comprehensive set of Blackjack side bets. Same as with roulette, dedicated tables are available.

Energy Casino has lots of tables with stakes starting at 0.50 a hand on the Party Blackjack table, up to 2.5k on the Diamond VIP Blackjack table. All games are by Evolution software and are played with 8 decks in Vegas style. Blackjack side bets of Bet Behind, Perfect Pairs and 21+3 can be found.

At NoBonus Casino, blackjack comes in two versions, Seven Seat Blackjack and multi-player ONE Blackjack. Both games are played to Vegas rules with 8 decks. Side bets of Perfect Pairs and 21+3 are available on both games, with ONE Blackjack having two additional side bets, Crazy 7 and Bust Bonus.

Read more about Blackjack side bets if you’re interested in them.

BitCoin Live Baccarat

There are loads of different types of Live Baccarat that you can play with a Live Dealer. There’s a straightforward game with Player/Banker. Then there are versions where you or the dealer can Squeeze the cards. Speed Baccarat, which is a fast version of the game takes no prisoners. It’s all over before you know what’s happened. It’s popular but you have to get your bets down quickly. All the games come with an array of side bets.

Energy Casino is a great choice for baccarat players. Speed Baccarat is here for those who prefer a faster game, Baccarat Squeeze for those who prefer the dealer squeezing the cards and Controlled Squeeze if you’d like to do the squeezing. Of course, the traditional version is also available.

Dafabet has baccarat presented from European and Asian studios, with traditional games available, as well as Speed Baccarat and Prestige tables.

NoBonus Casino offers traditional style baccarat, as well as a Speed version.

Bitcoin Live Dealer Poker Games

Live Dealer Poker derived games are very popular. 3 Card poker is my favourite, followed by Ultimate Texas Hold’em. Casino Hold’em is by far the most popular game with players. Caribbean Stud Poker is a good alternative, but not as popular as you’d expect.

Bitcoin Dice Games

Sic Bo is probably the most well-known of the live dice games, but Betgames has Dice Duel and Dice which offer something different.

Evolution has the unique Lightning Dice with multipliers, while Playtech and Pragmatcpc Play also have versions of Sic Bo with Multipliers.

Sic Bo Deluxe is available at Dafabet so you can play probably the most well-known of the live dice games.

Energy Casino has Super Sic Bo and Lightning Dice where you bet on the outcome of three dice.

NoBonusCasino offers Mega Sic Bo with multipliers up to 500x on random betting positions.

I’d like to point out that there’s a phenomenon regarding bitcoin and dice games. There are plenty of unregulated websites that let you bet on the outcome of a throw of a dice to ‘earn’ more bitcoin. These are mostly scams – if you’re into dice and want to bet with your bitcoin, choose one of the above games instead.

Wheel of Fortunes – Entertainment Games

There’s a real selection of Wheel of Fortune games.

Evolution’s Dream Catcher is probably the most well known, followed by Monopoly Live Dream Catcher. You’ll find both at Energy Casino.

Mega Wheel is a similar game from Pragmatic Play, while Crazy Time is probably the most played game online. You’ll find both at NoBonus Casino.

Dafabet has the Playtech equivalents, with Live Spin A Win, Adventures Beyond Wonderland and Money Drop Live being the most popular.

Lottery Games

Whilst strictly not Live dealer games, these are played using a live presenter who activates the ball selection machines. There are various different versions, but they all operate on the same theme. You have to pick out a certain number of winning balls, however, the number of balls that you pick in each of the games is different. The most popular games are provided by Betgames.

Native Bitcoin Casinos vs Traditional Casinos that accept Bitcoin

As a rule of thumb, traditional online casinos that added bitcoin as another method of payment will be converting your bitcoin to fiat money and are reliable places to indulge in gambling.

Native bitcoin casinos are built around bitcoin in order to attract customers from grey markets such as the USA or Australia, and usually don’t have a licence to operate in the UK.

All the casinos I recommend on this page are converting your bitcoin (or other cryptocurrencies) to pounds sterling. There’s another reason why conversion takes place – because all of the games you’ll play are set up to be playable with fiat money only. Native bitcoin games are still very, very rare.

Traditional Casino that added Bitcoin Payments

This will be an existing online casino that has added Bitcoin as a payment method.

  • Your use of Bitcoin won’t be anonymous, because this casino will want all your personal information when you set up your player account.
  • Using Bitcoin at one of these casinos will be for convenience because you have Bitcoin you want to spend or you want to keep processing fees to a minimum.
  • When playing at one of these casinos, the Bitcoins you deposit will be converted into the currency of the site, so be aware that you’ll lose some of the value in exchange rates.
  • It may or may not be possible to convert your winnings back to Bitcoin, so make sure you understand that before making a deposit.
  • Restrictions on access to the site from legal jurisdictions will still apply.

Native Bitcoin Casino

This will be an online casino that has been set up to solely use Bitcoin as a deposit method.

  • You probably won’t have to provide any personal details. If that’s the case you and your play will remain anonymous. Only an Email Address will be needed. Note: If personal details are asked for they need to be correct (i.e. not made up). You’ll probably have to verify your account when you withdraw. If the details don’t match, it’s likely your winnings will be confiscated.
  • The casino may accept players from any jurisdiction. Sometimes they will block certain countries, but if you’re using a VPN you can get around that and play. The Bitcoin and lack of player verification processes ensure you can play and withdraw without any problems.
  • Your gameplay will either be in a converted currency or in Bitcoin units such as mBTC.
  • These casinos are particularly popular with players from the United States of America and Australia.

Sending bitcoin to an online casino

If you already own bitcoin, simply send it to the address of the bitcoin wallet that your online casino gave you when you clicked to make a bitcoin deposit.

If not, you’ll need a regulated exchange that will accept your pounds sterling and give you bitcoin.

Buying bitcoin

To use Bitcoins you need to buy them from a Bitcoin exchange. But before you buy them you need somewhere to store them and that’s called a Wallet.

Bitcoin Wallets

There are 4 types of wallets:

  1. You install the wallet yourself onto your Desktop PC. For example Bitgo, Electrum, Copay, and Bitcoin Core.
  2. One that is hosted on the Internet. Such as Coinbase, BTC.com, BitGo, and GreenAddress.
  3. Hardware Wallets such as Keepkey, Ledger Nano, and Trezor.
  4. Mobile – BTC.com, Copay, Electrum, and Bitcoin Wallet.

With all the different types it’s important that you do some research for the one that suits your needs best.

Security, functionality, convenience, and fees should be on your list of criteria for picking the right one.

Bitcoin Exchanges

Coinbase is the largest bitcoin exchange in the world, and the largest available to UK customers.  Binance, another exchange, has been banned on UK soil recently.

Other good choices include Bitpanda, Kraken, Crypto.com, Gemini, KuCoin, Bitstamp, Bittrex. These are all professional ventures that offer very low fees and good exchange rates.

At these exchanges, you’ll be given a wallet address that will be tied to your account in the same way your bank account is issued by your bank.

Some people say bitcoin isn’t yours if you don’t own the private keys, and they use their own wallets such as Electrum (software) or Ledger (hardware).

However, you must first buy bitcoin somewhere else before you can send it to your own wallet, as it is just a wallet with no other capabilities.

Avoid forex sites, such as eToro or Libertex. These aren’t originally bitcoin exchanges and are often shady.

Check out Bitcoin.org, it’s a really useful information resource about Bitcoin with good impartial advice.

Making a bitcoin withdrawal

The process is largely the same as making a deposit to a casino, except that you’ll have to have passed the KYC procedures prior to requesting a withdrawal.

Simply enter the address of your bitcoin wallet and you’ll receive your crypto as soon as the casino processes the payment.

Reasons to be careful with Bitcoin

  • Transactions cannot be reversed. If you send your money to the wrong address you’ve had it. This is the most common way to lose funds. Always double-check the address!
  • If you lose access to your wallet where you store your bitcoin addresses you’ll lose all your bitcoin for good. This is also common – do store your passwords and keys in a safe place!
  • Bitcoin is an extremely volatile currency. The value can go up and down very quickly.
  • Transactions can take a while to be verified, you can shortcut this process by paying additional fees to have the transaction processed more quickly.

Is Bitcoin anonymous?

Yes and no.

Bitcoin transactions can be traced to wallet addresses. Wallet addresses are often tied to the company that is offering exchange services such as Coinbase – that you submitted your real name and documents to.

If you’ve used a Credit/Debit card or Bank transfer to purchase the Bitcoin in the first place, the transaction won’t be anonymous.

So don’t think your transactions are not traceable, because they are most of the time.

If you’re a UK player, there’s no reason to be hiding anything, and you can freely use bitcoin for your gambling activities.

If you live in a country where gambling is banned, you’ll probably be jumping through a lot of hoops to achieve the anonymity of online payments.

Bitcoin will probably be enough to achieve the basic level of anonymity, but only as long as the authorities don’t care about your specific case too much.

Cryptocurrencies don’t end with Bitcoin

Last but not least, while you may think the term ‘bitcoin casinos’ relates only to bitcoin, bitcoin is, in this case, synonymous with crypto in general.

There are very few online casinos that accept bitcoin only, and most widened their offer to other popular cryptocurrencies such as Ether (ETH), Bitcoin Cash (BCH), Litecoin (LTC) and more.

These other cryptocurrencies are actually a better choice, particularly BCH and LTC, as their transfer fees are in pennies, while with BTC and ETH they tend to be very high, such as £30 or more, during times of increased demand when the network gets congested.

Bitcoin Casinos UK Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Are Bitcoin casinos regulated?

Most bitcoin casinos choose not to be regulated as they are targeting grey markets. However, three quality casinos have a UKGC licence and accept bitcoin as a payment method. Read more about them on this page.

Do I have to submit personal information when gambling in bitcoin?

Yes, if you’re gambling at licenced casinos. There are also unlicenced casinos where you can gamble almost anonymously, without submitting personal information, though bitcoin can probably still be traced back to you by the authorities.

Why would I want to gamble in bitcoin and not in fiat?

The most common reason to use bitcoin for gambling is if you already have a lot of it or want to try to make more while keeping your fiat money intact.

Many players use bitcoin for its convenience and speed of deposits and withdrawals. There are very few reasons why you’d want to exchange fiat for bitcoin just to use it for gambling.
