Playtech has launched its first Live Slots game, Live Buffalo Blitz

This presenter-led game is the first of its kind, where a central online slot game is played by an unlimited number of players all at the same time.

The game is structured to be a community type game, where players are encouraged to participate in chat while the game spins away.

It’s sort of similar to the games you may have seen on the streaming site Twitch, where viewers watch someone playing a slot.

However, in this game, the presenter/host plays no part in the game, except on rare occasions when they press a manual spin button at the request of players in the chat.

The Presenters have the difficult job of keeping an interesting chat going to keep players engaged and participating in the dialogue.

How do you play Live Buffalo Blitz?

The game itself is quite straightforward.

You select the stake you want to spend on each spin, select the number of spins you want to play and your win and loss limits. Then you hit AutoPlay and away it goes for the selected number of spins. Once your money or spins has run out you are no longer participating in the game.

Buffalo Blitz comes with wilds and a bonus round which is triggered when 3 free games symbols drop in on the reels. 8 free spins are initially given for 3 Symbols, more for additional symbols. During the free spins round, the Wilds turn into multipliers and re-triggers can occur if two symbols drop in during the free spins round.

The bonus rounds have the potential to pay out big, however, most are likely to deliver 10-30x regularly.

Free spins don’t occur that often.

This particular slot is quite volatile, so you don’t get many small wins and you can churn through spins without getting anything and then suddenly you’ll get a decent win to bring your balance up.

The cost of the minimum spins are quite high at 40 pence a spin, I would prefer to see a 10p option.

What I think

This isn’t a game for me. I do play slots, but I like to do it on my own. The fake enthusiasm I can do without, as well as listening to random topics, are really just there to fill time until something interesting happens during the game. (I find the same with Monopoly as well).

Do I think Live Slots will catch on?

Probably for a small cross-section of players.

I think there needs to be a selection of slots to suit different player types.

As it stands newbies will quickly become disillusioned with this, while experienced slot players may play it if it’s their usual type of game.
