Codeta Live Casino launched in 2016, firstly targeting players in Scandinavia and then gradually across Europe, reaching the UK in late December.

I’ve known about the casino since it launched as I know a few of the people behind it, so I’ve been waiting in anticipation for it to get to the UK so I could try it out.

They’re trying to do something different from other online casinos. Their primary focus is Live Casino Games and the players that play them. Which is great news for people like us.

They also have an extensive range of slots and RNG table games for those that prefer to play them, but I won’t be talking about them here.

Initial Impression

My initial impression is very positive.

The website looks different from the norm, the layout does take a bit of getting used.

The main menu is hidden away so you have to select a drop down list that will review all parts of the site.

The All Live Games option gives you a full screen of all the available live games.

Codeta Live Casino Game Suppliers

The live games come from 6 suppliers:

• Evolution Gaming – Where you can play Roulette, Baccarat, Blackjack, Casino Hold’em, Ultimate Texas Hold’em, 3 Card Poker, Dream Catcher, Caribbean Stud Poker, Dragon Tiger & Texas Hold’em Bonus Poker.
• NetEnt – Where you get Roulette and Blackjack.
• Authentic Gaming – Who provide a range of live streamed roulette from luxury land-based casinos around Europe.
• LuckyStreak – Provides studio based Live Blackjack, Roulette and Baccarat. The games and studio have a Modern look and feel with some unique dealers.
• BetGames – These are Live games with a difference. There’s a couple of table games, Baccarat and Poker, a couple of dice based games and some lottery derived games. What they all have in common is the ability to make multiple bets either as cards are dealt or because there are lots of different scenarios to bet on.
• Ezugi – Ezugi provide live games from their studios in Costa Rica, Bulgaria, Belgium and Cambodia. They have 3 main games, Baccarat, Blackjack and Roulette. They also provide live streamed land based Baccarat from the Queenco Casino in Cambodia.

All game suppliers are shown on the website but Authentic, LuckyStreak, BetGames and Ezugi are not currently available to UK players. You’ll get a connection error if you try to play there.

Tutorials and How to Play Guides

With the player in mind, they’ve created a range of Tutorial videos and How to Play Guides that can be accessed on the individual game windows.

The video tutorials are a great idea, but I’m not going to lie I found the presenter difficult to understand at times.

The videos are better than the written guides which just don’t go into enough depth.

I’d recommend reading my How to Play Blackjack summary and using the Basic Strategy if you plan to play Blackjack or any one of the other guides I have created in the Live Games section.

Playing Options

All of the games are played in your browser on a PC.

With the exception of Blackjack at Netent, all games can be played on mobile Phones and Tablets.

The Mobile interface for Evolution games is particularly good for an all round playing experience

Blackjack

Blackjack has stake ranges from 0.50 to a max of £5,000.

They have one dedicated table (added January 2017) with stakes starting at £1 a hand. I can’t imagine they will stay this low for long, so it’s a good opportunity to try out the games for a really small deposit.

Side bets of 21+3, Perfect Pairs and Bet Behind can be found on all of the tables.

Roulette

There’s a full range of Roulette tables including Immersive and Double Ball Roulette.

La Partage is available on a few of the tables and you can also play on the live streamed table from the Dragonara Casino in Malta.

There’s also a comprehensive set of European language tables. Table stakes are generally lower than at Leo Vegas or Unibet live casinos where you’ll get a similar experience.

Baccarat

All of the flagship Baccarat tables are available, with the newest being the Controlled Squeeze. If you don’t like the theatrics of the squeeze then normal tables are available.

Dragon Tiger which is a one card per hand game, the highest card wins, is played along the same lines as Baccarat in it’s own special studio.

Poker Derived Games

The very popular poker derived games of Casino Hold’em, Caribbean Stud Poker, Ultimate Texas Hold’em, Texas Hold’em Bonus Poker and 3 Card Poker can be played from as little as £1.00 a hand.

They’re all one to many games so getting a seat is never a problem.

Money Wheel

Dream Catcher is the name of the new money wheel, Wheel of Fortune game released by Evolution.

There are 6 numbers dispersed around a 54 segment wheel. You simply bet on the numbers that you think the wheel will stop at.

It’s European Roulette in various formats including French layout with or without La Partage.

Authentic Live Games at Codeta

The Authentic Live Gaming solution adds Roulette tables live streamed from premium land-based casinos in Europe. You get to play alongside real players in the casino.

Authentic have really studied Roulette and what players like, so you’ll find lots of options and ways to bet that aren’t seen anywhere else.

I wasn’t a fan of this type of live streaming, basically because the feed is a bit grainier than in a studio and the table cloths seem a bit more worn. But I’ve been won over by the quality of the betting interface you use.

The only downside is that games can take a long time as the dealer has to pay out the players at the table. The Turbo version cuts down some of the time.

The dealers really make the experience here. They are chatty and don’t necessarily conform to the stereotypical image of a dealer that you see at other studios.

Betgames

There are 9 games from BetGames.

• Wheel of Fortune  -Where you predict the number or sector that the wheel will stop in.
• Lucky 5, Lucky 6 and Lucky 7 – These are all different lottery type games where you’re betting on combinations of the number of balls drawn from the machine. Each version has a different number of balls in play. Makes for some interesting bets.
• Bet on Poker – This is based on Texas Holdem poker, you can bet on multiple hands as you try to identify what the best hand will be. There are betting rounds as each card is dealt so you place additional bets as you see hands improve or get weaker.
• Bet on Baccarat – This is played in the traditional way, but you are able to place bets before each new card is dealt. There’s loads of betting options. Or if you want you can play in the traditional way and bet on a Player or Banker win.
• War of Bets – This game is very similar to Casino Wars, where you’re betting on which card will be higher. There’s additional bets such as the suit of the cards, the card colour or the values.
• Dice – This is 5 dice game very similar to Sic Bo, where you bet on combination and totals of the dice.
• Dice Duel – This is the dice version of War of bets, with Dice being used instead of cards.

Ezugi

Ezugi are an Isralie based company and they setup their first studio in Costa Rica and that is where the bulk of their games are streamed from at Codeta Live casino.

Codeta don’t seem to have taken the other studio streams, but they may change.

There are three games.

• Blackjack – This comes in a 7 Seat Format and is one of the better versions of Blackjack you can play. It’s an 8 deck game played to Vegas rules. You can surrender your hand and double on splits. There’s also a full range of side bets. More information can be found here.
• Baccarat – This comes in two formats. The studio table comes with three different side bets – Super 6, Knockout and Dragon Bonus. Then there’s the live streamed version from the Queenco Casino in Cambodia, where you’re playing alongside punters in the casino. All games are played with 8 decks and have a good selection of roadmaps giving information on the previous hands.
• Roulette – This is European Roulette and is played on two tables.

The studio i Costa Rica is fairly small, I visited there early in 2017 and met some of the dealers as well as having a tour around the facilities.

They’ve got a great product. It’s a shame that UK players are unable to access the tables because they don’t have the requisite UK license.

Let’s hope they get one soon, as I’d love to play their Blackjack for real money rather than in demo mode.

Licensing

Codeta has licenses with The Malta Gaming Association and the UK Gambling Commission who are probably two of the most stringent licensors. However this does limit the games you can get access to, so some of the Live Casinos suppliers can’t be played by UK players.

Customer Support

You can reach customer support on Chat. I found them to be knowledgeable and friendly when I spoke to them.

I like that you get to see a picture of them and that is something that Codeta are keen to promote, that the photos are of their staff and not stock model head shots.

Banking

A good variety of banking options for depositing and withdrawing are available. I used my Debit card and the withdrawal was processed in a few hours and the cash hit my bank account a few days later, which is pretty much the norm for these transactions.

Account verification is performed if you deposit more than €2000 in either one chunk or cumulatively. If you try to withdraw more that €2000 then you’ll also have to verify your account.

As you’d expect Codeta pays particular attention to promotions for live casino players.

Summary

In its favour, Codeta Live Casino has games from six different software providers. There’s plenty of choice and a good range of stake options for most of the games.

For the new player Codeta is an ideal starting place. The Video tutorials are a nice touch and quite unique, as is the focus on live games.

It’s encouraging to see some nice promotions and cash back offers on losses. I hope these stick around as these are certainly worth having and not available at many other live casinos.

I’ve been impressed so far and will be keeping a watchful eye on how they continue to develop their live casino product.
