Evolution Gaming has closed it’s live casino studio operations in Georgia, Tiblisi, following a request from the Georgian authorities to help combat the impact of the Coronavirus.
Evolution Gaming has been instructed by Georgian authorities to temporarily close the floor operations at its Tbilisi site.
As a consequence, the workforce will be significantly reduced.
A large part of the operations will be able to continue through the company’s other studios in Europe.
The Tbilisi studio adheres to current guidelines regarding social distancing and the company has taken an extensive number of infection prevention measures in the studio.
Evolution Gaming is in close contact with local authorities in order to verify the taken measures and to be able to reopen the studio.
The situation is developing, and Evolution will adapt continuously.
As previously announced, Evolution operates studios in 8 locations, and the company has routines for redundancy and continuity in the respect of studio operations.
Press Release Ends
This is not the first closure of a live casino studio, as the Phillipines Government made the same request to operators in Manila last week.
It’s no surprise really and I don’t think this will be the last of the closures.
Fortunatley Evolution will be able to spread capacity across the rest of it’s network, so the impact to online casinos is likely to be kept to the minimum.
Players will find it harder to get seats at some blackjack tables while some online casinos will no longer have access to their dedicated table environments while the studio is closed.
If you’d like to understand the impact more I’ve written an article that explores the impact of the cornavirus to online live casinos.
