Live European Roulette — Best European Roulettes with Live Dealers

What is Live European Roulette?

Live European Roulette is the phrase used to describe the streaming of real Roulette tables to players at online casinos. The tables are either located in specially designed studios, or on the floors of land-based casinos.

The game is managed by a Live Dealer or Croupier and is streamed in real-time. Players are able to place virtual bets on the table as if they’re playing at the actual table in the casino.

The difference between the studio and land-based tables is normally the betting time.

A studio table has a fixed betting time window in which you place your bets, whereas, with the land-based table, timings are in control of the Floor Manager and Croupier.

As for the game of European Roulette, it’s the same wherever you play. A wheel with 37 numbers, 1-36 and a single zero is what differentiates the classic European Roulette from other versions.

A Brief History of Live Dealer European Roulette

Live Dealer Roulette was one of the first live casino games to be streamed online using a live dealer. Primarily because it's the most popular table and secondly as it's multiplayer it easily scales for online play.

The early streams were pioneered by a company called Vuetec, who was the first to stream tables from a land-based casino. The stream was rather crude, not very good quality, and would often freeze.

However, this didn't deter online players who found the game to be more rewarding than RNG alternatives.

As technology improved, so did the quality of roulette games.

Studio tables started to appear which offered a clearer picture with a dedicated dealer controlling the game.

Then the Studio solution exploded, with many new companies offering tables and streaming solutions.

Evolution Gaming was the very first to offer true High Definition streaming with their Immersive Roulette product.  Playtech followed suit with Prestige Roulette.

Since then, lots of different variations of European Roulette have been released in an effort to satisfy player requirements.

Land-based streaming has returned and is proving to be very popular. The quality of the streams is studio quality, with the tables having more authenticity than their studio counterparts.

The future looks good for live roulette, especially as new variants of the game are now being produced that give extra payouts and side bet offerings.

This article takes into consideration all of the above to present the best options for playing Live European Roulette online.

Studio vs Live Streamed Roulette

Fortunately most Live European Roulette online casinos cater for players that like all table types.

What’s more, if you pick a studio table, you’re likely to be able to choose a dealer that speaks your particular language, which can make the experience that much better.

My personal preference is the studio tables, as I like the uniformity and pace of play.

While the land-based is more authentic it’s just too slow for me.

If you’re looking to play Live European Roulette online, you have three options. You can:

  1. Play at a table located and streamed from a studio.
  2. Use a table located and streamed from a real land-based casino.
  3. Play at an Auto Roulette table. This has a real wheel but no Dealer.

There are pros and cons to each.

The Land-Based Tables

Pros

  • This is as authentic as it gets. A real table in a real casino controlled by a real Croupier.
  • Probably the most trustworthy way of playing.
  • Real players at the table placing bets.

Cons

  • It’s a slow game, often taking minutes between each spin.
  • You can’t chat with the Dealer.
  • Camera angles are less sophisticated.
  • It can be quite noisy.

Auto Roulette Tables

Pros

  • A real wheel is used, no random number generator.
  • Very quick games.
  • The wheel is untouched by the human hand.

Cons

  • Somewhat soulless and clinical.
  • There’s no Dealer and no chat.
  • Less trustworthy as there are mechanisms in place to spin the wheel and fire the ball into the wheel.

Studio Tables

Pros

  • The game is played to a fixed time. Spin to spin times vary from speed tables at 25 seconds through to normal tables at 45 seconds.
  • The Dealers are generally chatty and you can engage in conversation with them.
  • There are generally multi-camera angles so you get to see the wheel and ball from multiple angles during the game round. The Dealers are changed every 30 minutes.

Cons

  • The studio is a controlled environment, so everything is the same every game round.

Is European Roulette Safe To Play?

Live European Roulette is safe to play, and I’ll explain why.

  • Only wheels produced by TCS Huxley & Cammargh tend to be used. These two dominate the land-based and studio markets. Most wheels come with built-in monitoring, so any deviation in performance is immediately alerted to technicians.

This avoids issues that can be exploited either by the casino or player, such as dealer signatures and unbalanced wheels that favour certain sections or numbers.

  • The casinos providing the live games don’t control them. The tables and studio are provided by a third party, meaning the casino doesn’t have direct access to the tables.

Also, the tables are shared between casinos, with many using the same stream and table. So collusion is almost impossible to achieve between one casino and the supplier.

  • Everything is played out in real-time, live, right before your eyes. Any sort of manipulation would easily be spotted. For those thinking there may be a delay or image manipulation going on, casinos even stream live TV broadcasts to prove it’s real-time.
  • In all the years I’ve been playing and live streaming has been popular, there has never been a proven incident of cheating by the casinos. In fact, it’s less likely on line than it is in a land-based casino because of all of the technology involved.
  • The only weak part is the trustworthiness of the casino itself. Players need to be careful where they play, and that’s why using a site like Live Casino Comparer can help in finding somewhere safe to play.

Where You Can Play

Live European Roulette with real Dealers can be found at most online casinos.

However, it’s worth noting that while the game is the same, the playing interface isn’t and can vary from one supplier to another.

I like to play at casinos where the playing interface has the ability to save favourite bets, as well as allow betting using a race track.

Having the facility to bet sections of the wheel is crucial for me.

I also like to see statistics for the last few hundred spins. Knowing what’s happened in the past helps me to decide where to bet next.

The Casinos in the table are the best selection for playing roulette at.

There's a mixture of casinos with games from different suppliers.

Look out for localised language tables if your native language isn't English.

All theses casinos have proved to be trustworthy and I'm happy to recommend them.

Live Casino Suppliers That Stream European Roulette

Live European Roulette is available from all live casino suppliers. It’s the most popular game played online.

Evolution is the largest supplier and has both studio and land-based streams from all over Europe and the United States. Versions include Speed, Immersive and Double Ball and a big selection of native tables.

Playtech only has studio streamed tables for the moment. Their product is very similar to Evolution.

Pragmatic Play has a nice modern take on Live European Roulette. The studios are less traditional and the playing interface is very good.

Ezugi streams tables from studios and uses streams from Portomaso in Malta for their land-based tables.

Authentic Gaming was the first to stream from a land-based casino in the US, with Foxwoods Casino unusually providing a Live European Roulette table from its VIP Area. Authentic has the most comprehensive playing interface of them all and only offers land-based streamed tables.

Playing Strategies – Tips and Strategies

There’s been literally hundreds of articles written about playing strategies for Live European Roulette and I’m not going to pretend that I can do any better than them. But what I will do is offer some common-sense advice on how to bet on roulette and why it’s important to have a strategy.

Having a strategy — an approach to play — is so important. It enables you to manage your bankroll, has an expectation of what to expect from each spin, controls your betting limits (max bets), makes your playing session more enjoyable, and, lastly, might even make you some money (small chance).

Did you know that 98% of people visiting and gambling in Las Vegas leave as losers? Only 1% of people break even and 1% leave with more money than they came with! That should tell you everything about gambling strategies and your likelihood of winning.

My Top Playing Tips for European Roulette

  • There is no strategy that can guarantee you’ll win.
  • Bet only what you can afford to lose.
  • Consider betting on sections of the wheel known as the “French Bets”, you’ll find them marked on the race track.
  • To reduce the risk of losing, bet on the even money bets (outside bets).
  • If you're only playing even-money bets, play French Roulette as the returns are better, because half your stake is returned if you lose to a Zero.
  • Inside bets give a higher rate of return but are also riskier. Make these with care.
  • Do not borrow money to bet with.
  • Set a deposit, or withdrawal limit, and stick to it.
  • It may sound obvious, but when you’re up, consider taking a break and banking those winnings.
  • Don’t chase your losses; generally, things get worse, not better.
  • Don’t play if you’re drunk or upset.

Live European Roulette Review

European Roulette is the most popular table game online. It’s played by high and low rollers, offering everyone the same chance of winning.

What’s great is that there are options to play on tables in studios and streamed from land-based casinos.

The live casino suppliers all have similar products, with Evolution probably providing the stand-out studio solution and Authentic Gaming the land-based streams.

Quite frankly, European Roulette is so universal that you won’t get a bad game.

What’s really interesting is the different varieties now on offer.

Speed Roulette is very popular as is Lightning and Quantum Roulette, with their 500 x multipliers.

Immersive and Prestige Roulette get up close to the dealer with some funky camera angles, while Double Ball has your eyes darting around the wheel and wondering what on earth is going on!

My advice is to stick to the recommended casinos above and to check out my tips for playing.

It’s not rocket science.

Above all, enjoy your playing sessions. If you’re not, then just stop playing for a while, and try again later.

European Roulette Alternatives

If European Roulette doesn't quite give you the buzz you want, have you thought about playing one of the versions that have multipliers?

Lightning Roulette is probably the most well-known, as it was the first game to offer multipliers on wins, up to 500x.

Quantum Roulette and Mega Roulette are effectively copies of Lightning Roulette, while Mega Fire Blaze Live Roulette knocks them out of the park with its 10,000x maximum multiplier.
