Evolution will build a second version of Crazy Time in a new studio in Kaunas, Lithuania.
The main reason is to accommodate increased player numbers, as Crazy time regularly reaches 15,000 concurrent players.
I suspect the other reason is resilience. Crazy Time is Evolution’s most prominent game by far, and to have only one version of the game is taking a significant risk when anything could happen to interrupt transmission. When Covid hit, Evolution could continue to deliver their games as some studios remained open while others closed during the government lockdowns. A decline in players’ numbers would certainly hit revenue, so it’s understandable why Evolution wants a second Crazy Time Studio.
Creating a second studio is an excellent opportunity for Evolution to try out the process. I wouldn’t be surprised to see Crazy Time in the United States at some point, especially as it had prominent coverage at the recent G2E exhibition in Las Vegas.
Still, that’s all conjecture on my part.
There is no announcement of when we can expect the new Crazy Time to go live and no indication of how Evolution will implement the game.
Will players be able to choose which version of the game to play? Or will player numbers be balanced across the two? or are different markets sent to specific games?
These are all excellent questions we’ll have answers for when the game is released.
