Play’n GO has joined the Deutscher Online Casinoverband (DOCV), the German Online Casino Association, as the casino games supplier increases its engagement with policymakers, regulators and other industry stakeholders in Germany.
The company’s membership was unanimously approved by the association. Play’n GO will contribute its experience as a supplier operating across regulated markets, with Melanie Hainzer, Market Owner DACH at Play’n GO, representing the company in the association’s work.
The move comes as Germany’s regulated online casino sector continues to discuss market development, channelisation, competition with unlicensed operators and player protection.
Play’n GO becomes DOCV member
The DOCV represents the interests of Germany’s regulated online casino industry and provides a forum for dialogue between businesses, policymakers, authorities, media and the wider public.
Its work covers areas including sustainable regulation, fair competitive conditions, player protection and the development of a viable regulated online gambling market.
Play’n GO’s membership was approved unanimously. Through its participation, the supplier will bring experience from regulated markets in different jurisdictions to discussions within the association. Melanie Hainzer, Market Owner DACH at Play’n GO, will serve as the company’s representative in the DOCV’s activities.

Focus on Germany’s regulated market
The announcement comes as industry participants continue to examine the relationship between Germany’s legal online gambling market and unlicensed operators.
Play’n GO Chief Commercial Officer Magnus Olsson said the regulated market needs to address channelisation and competition with businesses operating outside the licensed framework. He also highlighted differences between industry estimates and official figures concerning the share of gambling activity taking place outside the regulated market.
According to Olsson, the challenge involves balancing player protection with a regulated offer that can compete effectively with illegal alternatives. He said Play’n GO had made long-term decisions in support of regulated markets, including withdrawing from substantial unlicensed business. The company said its focus is on improving channelisation, addressing black-market activity and supporting conditions in which licensed businesses can compete.
DOCV provides industry representation
The DOCV represents its members before authorities, legislative bodies and other associations. Its activities also include advocacy on competitive and taxation conditions, as well as providing information on the economic, social and legal development of casino markets.
The association’s statutory objectives include research into gambling-related harm and cooperation with organisations working in addiction prevention and the protection of minors. For Play’n GO, membership provides a formal platform for contributing to discussions around the development of Germany’s regulated online casino sector.
Progress in Germany requires cooperation between licensed operators, suppliers, policymakers and enforcement bodies.

Supplier perspective added to association
Play’n GO said its membership reflects its longer-term focus on regulated markets and its approach to sustainable industry development.
Hainzer said the company would bring a supplier perspective shaped by experience across multiple regulated jurisdictions while also working with DOCV members to identify practical solutions for Germany’s market.
