NetEnt Live Blackjack Review

netent live blackjack

NetEnt Live Blackjack has developed into a cracking game, with lots of game variations and studio types to please most players.

The basic game is played with eight decks, dealt from a manual dealing shoe, and played to European Rules. All tables have the option of the common blackjack side bets of Pairs and 21+3.

The one constant across all of the tables and studios is the friendliness of the dealers and the intimate playing experience you get.

That coupled with great use of technology, NetEnt Live Blackjack is one of the best games around.

NetEnt Live Blackjack Overview

Netent Live Blackjack has more tables and playing options than any of the other NetEnt Live Games.

However, they do share a common set of technologies which see the tables presented in four ways:

  1. Common Tables – these are the default tables most of the Netent casinos will use. They utilize green screen technology to provide different backgrounds.
  2. Dedicated Tables – These are tables that are physical and have been created for use by specific casinos. These are dedicated and fully branded.
  3. Physical Tables – These are tables located in the Netent live casino physical studio. There is no green screen used here, what you see is all real.
  4. Network Branded Casinos – These are Blackjack tables (mostly the common ones) presented in a branded environment, created completely using technology.

NetEnt Live Blackjack Versions

There are three versions of live blackjack by Netent.

Regardless of the presentation type or studio, these are the three core blackjack games.

  • 7 Seat Blackjack
  • Blitz Blackjack
  • Perfect Blackjack

Let’s take a close look at each.

7 Seat Netent Live Blackjack

7 Seat Blackjack

The more traditional way of providing blackjack and virtually identical to the game you get in land-based casinos.

  • There are 7 seats and each seat gets dealt its own hand.
  • All players play against the dealer with the aim of getting a better hand than the dealer without busting out.
  • The game is dealt from a manual shoe with 8 Decks. Shuffling occurs with 50% penetration.
  • The 7 seat tables tend to get full rather quickly, so the alternative is to play at the Blitz Blackjack or Perfect Blackjack tables or at a casino with dedicated tables.

NetEnt Blitz Blackjack

Blitz Blackjack

Blitz Blackjack is sometimes referred to as Unlimited Blackjack or Common Draw.

  • This is a one to many game, where one player hand is dealt that an unlimited number of players can bet on.
  • You play the hand as you see fit and your actions will be remembered when the hand completes. Your outcome will then be compared to the dealers and if you win you’ll be paid.

NetEnt Live Perfect Blackjack

Perfect Blackjack is a three-seat one to many game that’s played to perfect basic strategy.

Following the betting round the player takes no further part in the game as each hand is played out by the dealer.

  • There are side bets of Perfect Pairs and 21+3.
  • You can select to auto split and auto double depending on the strategy for the hand.

Games Rules of NetEnt Live Blackjack

The basic rules of Netent Live Blackjack are the same across all versions of the game.

  • It’s played with 8 decks, which follows what all other live casinos do.
  • You’ll be dealt from a manual dealing shoe which is changed after half the shoe has been used.
  • The game is played to European Rules (the dealer only takes one card).
  • Split Aces only get one card.
  • You can Double on a Split hand.
  • If you double on a soft 9, 10, or 11, the subsequent resultant hand is hard.
  • If you have Blackjack and the dealer is showing an Ace you’ll be offered even money.

Blackjack Side Bets

Blackjack side bets are available as an optional extra for Operators. There’s two available:

  • Perfect Pairs – The player’s first two cards must be a pair to win.
  • 21+3 uses the player’s first two cards and the dealer’s up-card to make a poker hand.

Playing Formats

Netent Live Blackjack is available on Mobile and PC.

NetEnt Live Blackjack Interface

The tables can be accessed through two lobbies. The full-screen lobby is available at most casinos when you enter the live casino.

If you arrive directly at a table there is a mini lobby that is accessed in the top right-hand corner of the screen.

Playing Interface

The playing interface has all of the options you’d expect to control your playing experience.

I find the default settings are generally ok, although I do switch off the sounds occasionally.

Game Settings

  • Chat – Chat is only available if you have a playing balance in your account. You can switch the display on / off.
  • Background Music.
  • Sound Effects.
  • Live Casino Sounds.
  • Video Quality – Low, Medium, or High. The system will detect your connection speed and will try and optimise the stream accordingly. It can be overridden here.

Full-Screen mode – Displays the interface in Full Screen.

Volume – On/Off.

Player Information – Brings up a panel that gives links to the Games rules and Game History which open in a separate window.

Shuffles

Only manual dealing shoes are used and shuffles are either performed manually at the table or using a shuffling machine.

NetEnt used to use the Shufflemaster dealing shoes, but thankfully these have been consigned to the dustbin, as players just didn’t like them.

The manual shoes are just boxes that hold the cards that have been shuffled by the dealer at the table. A cut card is introduced about 3/4 of the way through the deck and when that is dealt the shoe is changed for a new one.

Disconnection Policy

If you get logged out or lose your connection and have already made a bet, your hand will stand. You’ll be paid if your hand wins.

Return To Player

The published RTP for Netent Live Blackjack is 99.50%, which is within the acceptable limits for an online live dealer blackjack.

Summary

I really like what NetEnt has done with the development of their live blackjack. The three-game options allow beginners, the less experienced and experienced players to enjoy playing blackjack. There truly is something for everyone.

I really like the use of technology, and how everything, from the playing interface to the table and studio layouts is kept clean and simple.

With an expansion of tables, getting a seat is less of a problem than it used to be and the network Branded Casino is a really cute solution for those casinos wanted a branded environment but find the cost of physical tables a barrier to entry.

Positives

  • Has a nice modern playing interface
  • You can double on splits.
  • It’s an 8 deck game.
  • Side Bets 21+3 and Pairs.
  • Lots of game options for all abilities.

Negatives

  • The markings on the cards are too small so are difficult to distinguish even in Full-screen mode. You have to rely on the computer-generated number to really see what’s going on.
  • Only European Rules.
